Abstract: The applicability of porous carbon materials obtained by the “chemical” dehydrochlorination of poly(vinyl chloride) as supports for palladium hydrogenation catalysts was demonstrated. The efficiency of the catalysts was evaluated in the liquid-phase hydrogenations of styrene, nitrobenzene, chlorobenzene, benzaldehyde, acetophenone. Although the specific activity of the catalysts was noticeably lower than that of the samples based on carbon nanotubes, the complete conversion of the initial compounds and high selectivity for target products were achieved under mild conditions and at a relatively low palladium content (1.5 %).
