Abstract: The samples of LiAl-LDH (layered double hydroxides) were synthesized by one-step mechanochemical activation. It was found that chemical composition and structural properties of LiAl-LDH largely depend on the nature of initial components and milling bodies and activation conditions. It was found that the synthesized LDHs have the «memory effect» and can restore their layered structure after calcination by subsequent contact with water. This property is important for use these systems in aqueous-phase reactions. Processes, occurring during LiAl-LDH calcination, were studied. The textural and acid-base properties of the mixed oxides LiAlOx, obtained by LiAl-LDH calcination, were investigated. It was shown the increased activity of the LiAlOx in aqueous -phase aldol condensation of furfural with acetone compared with activity of the MgAlOx.
