Abstract:
The present work is devoted to study of the effect of carbon support nature and metal content on the properties of Pd and Ru catalysts in selective hydrogenation of benzaldehyde to benzyl alcohol. Carbon materials with different morphology (carbon nanotubes and carbon black) were used as supports for the synthesis of catalysts with metal content of 0.3, 1.0 and 1.5 wt. %. Hydrogenation of benzaldehyde in ethanolic solution was carried out in autoclave at 40–80 oC and 0.5 MPa. It was shown that carbon support nature influence the formation and dispersion of supported metal as well as the composition of benzaldehyde transformations products formed on the active sites of the support surface.
