Abstract: In catalytic and sorption processes mineral and carbon-mineral block articles find at present growing application. In the Institute of Problems of Hydrocarbons Processing, Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences, a process was developed for production of blocks of cellular structure containing 99 wt% of carbon with a developed porous structure of adjustable pore volume V-Sigma = 0.2-0.5 cm(3) g(-1), specific area ABET = 5-500 m(2) g(-1), pore radius 4-40 nm, and mechanical strength 40-120 kg cm(-2).
