Abstract:
The catalytic properties of palladium catalysts based on Al2O3, SiO2, their mechanical mixtures with SO4–ZrO2, and a Pd/SO4–ZrO2–Al2O3 catalyst in the hexane isomerization reaction have been studied. The catalysts have been characterized by low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction analysis, transmission electron microscopy, temperature-programmed reduction, IR spectroscopy of adsorbed
CO, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It has been shown that the nature of the support and the palladium precursor affect the size and charge state of palladium species in the catalysts. It has been found that the highest activity in the hexane isomerization reaction is exhibited by catalyst systems that contain positively charged palladium species.
