Abstract: Reactivity of commercial aluminium alloys activated by the liquid eutectic alloy (76 wt.% of Ga, 24 wt.% of In, tm = 15.9°C) in the breakdown of water to form hydrogen was studied. It was shown that the efficiency of hydrogen isolation is determined by the grain-boundarystructure of the initial aluminium alloys. The finalactivated product is an efficient reagent for obtaininghydrogen when interacting with water and can be used asa material for compact hydrogen cartridges.
