Abstract:
The possibility of freshwater sapropel processing bysupercritical carbon dioxide (SC–CO2) and a co-solvent to extractbioactive compounds, including amino acids, was investigated. The effect of ethanol as a co-solvent in supercritical carbon dioxide on the yield and composition of products wasstudied. It was shown that the concentration of an aqueous ethanol solution, the pressure and the temperature of the process affect the yield andcomposition of the extract (SC-substrate) and amino acids. The introduction of a co-solvent allowed achievinga higher yield of the SC-substrate at lower pressures, due to the increase in the proportion of the hydrophilic phase in the extractant. It was established that the highest yield of amino acids is observed with the introduction of a 70%C2H5OHaqueous solution at a ratio of raw material-extractant of 2:1 and is 1395 mg kg-1of organic matter. At the same time, in the extracts obtained as a result of traditional extraction with propylene glycol, theamino acid content is 2.3 mg kg-1of organic matter.
