At present work the effect of palladium content in Pd/WO3-ZrO2 catalysts in the range of 0.05–2 wt.% on their catalytic properties in isomerization of heptane was studied. Special attention must be paid to the yield of high-octane dimethyl and trimethyl substituted isomers of heptane (DTMS), because in the presence of these isomers it will improve environmental performance of gasoline and reduce harmful emissions. Reaction conditions were follows: temperature 140–220°C, pressure 1.5 MPa, molar ratio of hydrogen to heptane equal to 3, and liquid hourly space velocity (LHSV) 1 h–1.
