Abstract:
A new carbon support for catalysts is prepared by depositing pyrolytic carbon on the surface of commercial carbon, followed by steam activation, and the main features characterizing the development of the texture are outlined. It is shown that the particle-size distribution in the parent commercial carbon exerts a strong influence on the formation of meso- and macropores and on the development of microporosity during activation.
