Abstract:
Physicochemical characteristics of porous carbon material of SibunitTM trademark, which are formed during its synthesis, were studied, and their compliance with the requirements of medical standards was evaluated. It was established that the chemical purity of the material (mass fraction of carbon), the minimum content of impurities (sulfur, ash), bulk density, specific surface area of SBET, strength granules (resistance to abrasion granules) meet these requirements, determining the prospects of its use as a basis for the creation of medical sorbents. However, the alkaline nature of the surface, the presence of a significant amount of ultrafine carbon particles (carbon dust), generated during the material synthesis process, exclude the possibility of such an application before solving the problem of bringing these characteristics to the required standards. The well-known methods of bringing the characteristics of carbon sorbents that do not meet the requirements of medical standards to accepted values are given.
